Our goal at Mountain View Middle School is to create a high-achieving school environment where students flourish. We have made significant growth in reading and writing, and continue to strive in all academic areas. The positive atmosphere at Mountain View Middle School is infectious. Students participate in a wide variety of activities such as: music, drama, sports, art, and leadership. Developing well rounded students is our priority.
Our school operates within a positive behavior support philosophy. This happens in the form of positive referrals, caught being good slips, and attendance incentives. We are proud to see independent, responsible school citizens developing in response to these efforts. Our school motto is, “Be Safe, Responsible and Respectful”.
Mountain View Middle School is implementing a Response to Intervention (RTI) secondary model at our school. We make data driven decisions to inform our instruction. As part of this process, we screen all students at Mountain View Middle School three times a year (Fall, Winter, and Spring). This information is used to place students in our 6th period enhancement class. Students are placed according to individual academic needs.
Our doors are always open as we welcome your input and suggestions. The school PTA is an active part of our school community and we encourage all parents to participate in this organization. We want to express our thanks to the Bremerton community for their continued support. Watch us grow this school year in academics and social responsibility.
College Bound Scholarships and AVID
College Bound is a program designed to motivate and prepare students to pursue a college education. It is a four-year scholarship that will cover the cost of college tuition, fees, and books. Visit the WA Higher Education Coordinating Board website to learn more about this program and more.
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is another support program we have implemented here at Mountain View Middle School. The application process for inclusion in this program is rigorous. Students produce a written application as well as interview for the positions. AVID is designed to support students in their efforts to become college bound. The AVID path transitions with our students to Bremerton High School as they continue their education.
