PTAs/PTOs/Booster Clubs

School Support Organizations

Parent Booster Clubs and Parent Teacher Associations/Organizations (PTAs/PTOs) are separate entities from the school and school district. They generally support and supplement the athletic  and music programs of a specific school although they can also support other school  activities. These organizations are independent organizations and the funds collected are exempt from the statutory controls over school activity funds. Being recognized is not an endorsement by the Bremerton School District. 

Below are general guidelines for school support organizations.

• District staff members, including paid coaches, shall not hold positions of signature authority in booster clubs and/or special interest organizations that serve their schools.

• When donating or giving to the District schools, departments and programs, nonprofit organizations must follow District Policies and Procedures (6114, 6114P and 3530P)

• Donations cannot be used to hire personnel.

• All gifts above $100 (in cash or in value) must be accepted by the Board, and under $100 (in cash or in value) by the principal.

• Any promotional materials utilized must clearly state that the event/fundraiser is NOT sponsored by the Bremerton School District.

• Booster/PTA/PTO fundraisers cannot be held on District property during regular school hours.

• Booster/PTA/PTO fundraisers cannot involve District employees during staff time.
