At Bremerton School District, we use assessments to improve teaching and learning. This helps us meet the needs of our students and staff.

State & Federal Assessments

Bremerton School District conducts federal and state assessments annually, including:

  • Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA)  For grades 3-8 and high school in English language arts and math.
  • Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) – For grades 3, 8, and high school.
  • Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS) – For kindergarten students, as part of the district’s full-day kindergarten program.

World-Class Instruction and Design Assessment (WIDA) – For select students learning English.

  • iReady tests are used in reading and math and teachers create tests to check progress. For more details, see our Assessment Framework.

  • Parents and guardians can access student assessment results on Skyward.

  • The OSPI Report Card includes state and federally-mandated assessment results and data. You can look up school report cards on OSPI’s website or find it on your child’s school website.

  • Yes, fill out the Assessment Refusal form each year you want your child excused and return to your child’s school.
