View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy celebrates six years of Disney performances with "Frozen"

In April, 58 of our talented 3rd-5th View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy graders brought the magic of Frozen Jr. to life! This year’s performance was extra special for another reason: Our very first fifth grade "Disney Kids" are graduating high school in June! ?? Frozen was VREAA’s 6th Disney musical! While the program started with the help of the Disney Musicals in Schools Foundation and Seattle Theater Group, this program is now 100% community-funded by donations! ???? This program runs on pure heart. Eleven VREAA staff members volunteer their time every Monday and Tuesday from October through March because they see the joy these musicals bring our kids. Even on the long days, these staff members will tell you that it’s impossible to leave a rehearsal without a smile! Thank you to our staff, our parent costume helpers, and our amazing community for keeping the arts alive at View Ridge!

BHS National Honor Society Induction group photo

BHS National Honor Society inducts new members

BHS Honor Society recently inducted 42 new members into the Bremerton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS), joining a tradition of excellence that goes far beyond the classroom. Earning a place in NHS isn't just about the 3.25+ GPA that gets them an invitation to apply. Candidates submit a resume, an essay, and two teacher recommendations that are reviewed by a teacher panel. Membership in NHS is a commitment to character, scholarship, service, and leadership. From organizing clothing drives and building celebration boxes for the Bremerton Foodline to reading to elementary students, NHS members are the heart of service at our school.

VR student learning science at Turner Joy

View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy third graders visit the Turner Joy

Recently, our View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy third graders got a science lesson aboard the USS Turner Joy where they dove into hands-on experiments exploring: -The effects of heat on different materials -The fundamentals of balance -How air pressure impacts the world around us As they toured the ship, they saw exactly how these principles allowed the Turner Joy to function. Thank you to the USS Turner Joy for helping our students connect our city’s Naval history with the science of the future!

AP Classes at Aquarium

AP Science Classes visit Seattle Aquarium

Bremerton High School AP Biology and AP Environmental Science (APES) students recently took their learning "off-campus" for a combined field trip to the Seattle Aquarium where they "dove deep" into: -Biological adaptations: Seeing how marine species thrive in diverse environments. -Environmental conservation: Learning about the fragile balance of our local ecosystems and what is being done to protect them.

Naval Avenue Elem STEM Night

Naval Avenue Elementary hosts STEM Night

Naval Avenue Elementary recently hosted STEM Night where students dove into the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math with hands-on robotics, machine-building challenges, and a special activity with our Garden Club. A huge thank you to our Naval Avenue PTA for fueling our NA Dolphins with a pizza! It was a fantastic night of learning and community.

RHS Archery Team

RHS Archery Team competes in state tournament

The Renaissance High School Archery team recently traveled to Central Washington University to compete in the NASP Washington State Championship Tournament. Archery at RHS is more than just a sport; it’s part of our PE curriculum through the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP). This nationwide initiative helps our students build focus, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Naval Avenue celebrates Read Across America Week

Naval Avenue Elementary celebrates reading

To celebrate Read Across America, Naval Avenue Elementary students and set set a HUGE goal for the month of March: to build a paper chain that reached from one end of the school to the other! Every single link in that chain represents 5 minutes of reading. Whether students were reading together in class or curling up with a book at home with their families, every minute helped us stretch that chain further down the halls. Read Across America is a nationwide reading celebration designed to motivate children and teens to read. Observed annually around March 2 (the birthday of Dr. Seuss), the program has evolved from a one-day event into a year-round initiative that promotes literacy and highlights diverse books, authors, and readers.
