Community Use of Playgrounds, Tracks & Fields

Community Use of Playgrounds, Tracks & Fields

At Bremerton School District, we believe in fostering a strong connection with our community. That's why we're happy to open the doors (or rather, the gates!) to our school fields, tracks and playgrounds after school hours!

The fencing/ gates at all of our schools are a part of a safety and security plan the District began implementing in 2020, which also included renovations to our school entry ways to provide for a single-point of entry for each building. The safety improvements were funded by a one-year capital levy (approved by voters in February 2019).

During the school year:

The gates are locked during the school day and access to the school is through the main entrance only. See our visitor guidelines >

The gates are unlocked after school hours starting at 4:30 p.m. and facilities are open for public use, unless they are in use by a school or community group.

Facility use/rentals after school hours:

School facilities may be closed to the public after school hours, when school or community groups have scheduled the use of the facility. The person in charge of the scheduled event may ask members of the public to leave the event if the presence of community members creates a distraction or safety concern. Community members who are asked to leave may return to the facility after the event is completed.

During the summer:

The entry gates may be closed, but they are unlocked 24-7, unless a short-term closure of a limited area is necessary for maintenance work. If we close facilities, we will post information on our website and Facebook account. If we anticipate an extended maintenance closure we'll post signs at the facility.

Questions? Need help?

If you encounter a locked gate at any of our facilities, please contact the District Facilities Department at 360-473-0506.

Please include the location and dates as this will help us get the gates unlocked or identify any issues.
