Comprehensive Sexual Health Education

Our Comprehensive Sexual Health Education program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. We provide age-appropriate information on a variety of topics, including body changes, relationships, consent, and sexual health.

We support parents and guardians as the primary educator for puberty and sexual health education topics. Strong communication between children, their families, and trusted adults at school can help students feel safe and make healthy choices.

School districts in Washington are required to present age-appropriate instruction about human growth and development, HIV prevention, confirmed consent and bystander behaviors. Starting in 5th grade, we use lessons that provide medically and scientifically factual information.

State Law on Sexual Health Education

Starting in 2023, all school districts in WA must be in compliance with state requirements for Human Growth and Development (HG&D) and HIV instructional programs: Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (CSHE).

All lessons taught in the Bremerton School District are in alignment with the CSHE legislative requirements.
