At Bremerton School District, we use assessments to improve teaching and learning. This helps us meet the needs of our students and staff.

State & Federal Assessments

Bremerton School District conducts federal and state assessments annually, including:

  • Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) –  For grades 3-8 and high school in English language arts and math.
  • Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) – For grades 3, 8, and high school.
  • Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS) – For kindergarten students, as part of the district’s full-day kindergarten program.
  • World-Class Instruction and Design Assessment (WIDA) – For select students learning English.

Parents and guardians can access student assessment results on Skyward under the “portfolio” tab.

12/19/24: Spring 2024 Smarter Balance Assessment results now available

December 19, 2024

Results for the Smarter Balanced Assessment and/or Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) from spring 2024 are now available in Skyward! 

These results are typically available in early fall, prior to conferences. However, the release of test scores from the state (OSPI) was delayed this year. 

These tests are intended as one measure of how students are progressing.  The level your student earned is an estimate of their performance on some of the skills and knowledge required at each grade level. These test results are only one way to know how students are doing in key academic areas. 

We encourage you to review these test results and talk to your child’s teacher(s) if you have questions or concerns about your student’s progress.

 

ACCESSING THE RESULTS:

When you log-in to Skyward, you will need to click on the “portfolio” tab on the left menu bar (see screen capture below). These results are NOT in the “test scores” section.

If you don’t have a Skyward login or need assistance resetting your password, please contact your child’s school.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • iReady tests are used in reading and math and teachers create tests to check progress. For more details, see our Assessment Framework.

  • Parents and guardians can access student assessment results on Skyward.

  • The OSPI Report Card includes state and federally-mandated assessment results and data. You can look up school report cards on OSPI’s website or find it on your child’s school website.

  • Yes, fill out the Assessment Refusal form each year you want your child excused and return to your child’s school.
