Welcome back to school from your new superintendent!

Welcome Back, Bremerton!

What a great time to join the Bremerton School District!

As your new superintendent, I’ve spent the summer learning about our schools and connecting with students, families, staff, and community members. I can already tell this is a place that shows up for kids in a big way. We have a proud history, strong community roots, and a spirit of resilience that makes me glad to be here. If you’d like to see my priorities for getting started, please take a look at my 100-Day Entry Plan.

In Bremerton, students have access to a rich and diverse education—one that is rigorous, inclusive, and designed to prepare them for the future they imagine. From exceptional academic programs and career technical education pathways to vibrant arts, music, and athletic opportunities, our schools offer something for every student to explore and excel in. These opportunities are made possible through the dedication of our skilled and passionate staff, the involvement of our families, and the support of our many community partners.

Our Core Values—Welcoming Environment, Trusting Relationships, Lifelong Learning, and Unwavering Support—are not just words on a page; they are lived daily. We hold high expectations for every student so that when they graduate from Bremerton schools, they leave confident, capable, and ready for whatever comes next—whether that’s military service, career, college, or a path uniquely their own.

Outside of my work, I am first and foremost a husband to a great middle school English teacher and dad to two awesome kids who are also getting ready for college to start. I enjoy being outdoors—whether it’s surfing, backpacking, or running local trails. You really can’t help but love the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. During the year, you might see me cheering at school games, meeting with community members at Coffee Oasis, or riding along on bus routes.

Bremerton is a special place, and I feel lucky to be part of it. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work alongside you, listening to ideas, celebrating our wins, and tackling challenges together. Our goal is the same: every student having the opportunities, support, and connections they need to succeed.

With sincere gratitude,

Slade McSheehy
Superintendent, Bremerton School District

Bremerton: Our Voice. Our Dreams. Our Future.

I had lunch with BHS Link Crew students and Summer Knight Academy participants in August.

Our Child Nutrition Services supervisor Ashley Guerrero and I invited Congresswoman Emily Randall to visit one of our summer meal sites this summer.

I enjoyed meeting families and community members at the annual Marvin Williams Center Back-to-School Carnival!

Welcome back from Dr. McSheehy and our principals!

Meet your new superintendent!
