Introducing our new MVMS Principal Renee Murphy

March 26, 2026

The Bremerton School District is pleased to welcome Renee Murphy to the Bremerton School District community as the new principal of Mountain View Middle School.

“Guided by her mantra that every student and staff member is safe, connected, known, and challenged, Renee Murphy will bring passion, compassion, and strong instructional leadership to Mountain View Middle School,” said Brittane DeBard, Executive Director of Learning and Leadership Development. “Her experience supporting multilingual learners, students served through IEPs, and diverse middle school communities reflects her belief that inclusive, high-quality learning environments help every young adolescent thrive."

Mrs. Murphy is a strong advocate for families, communities, and schools working together to support all student learners.

“Middle school is where my heart is,” said Mrs. Murphy. "Fourteen of my fifteen years in school administration have been in middle school and it is where I want to be. It is such a critical time in students’ lives with so much growth and self-discovery. I am deeply committed to supporting every student at Mountain View Middle School.”

A graduate of Western Washington University, Mrs. Murphy has a K-12 teaching degree in Spanish and Multilingual Education. Her career began with a global focus, teaching Spanish and English across middle and high schools in Washington state, Colombia, and Mexico. In 2011, she transitioned into leadership as the Assistant Director of the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, where she championed CTE programs for a five-district consortium. She served as the Assistant Principal of Stevens Middle School in Port Angeles for four years before coming to the Kitsap Peninsula, where she’s been the assistant principal at Marcus Whitman Middle School in the South Kitsap School District for the past 10 years.

Outside of school, she and her husband enjoy attending the many concerts, performances, and sporting events in which their four kids, ages 17-21, are involved. Mrs. Murphy loves hiking the many trails in the Pacific Northwest, and auditioning for and performing in local plays.

Mrs. Murphy’s contract begins July 1, pending board approval.
